How often do young men experience hair loss?

Posted under hair loss in men by admin on Wednesday 15 April 2009

I mean, I started experiencing hair at 15 or 16 and back in high school, so-called cool teens made crack jokes of my receding hairline.

How often do young men under 18 experience hair loss? How often do they face harassment from high school so-called cool teens? How often do you see or hear that?

PS: This will be my final question on this section and I won't contribute on here no more.

Well, my brother started losing his hair while he was still in highschool. He had a noticable receding hairline when he was 16. He's almost 22 now and it looks like he's kind of got a comb over. I don't remember him saying anything about people harassing him because of it and he wasn't a "cool" teen.
Most of it comes from the guys parents/grandparents/ect. My dad also lost his hair at a young age.

Aw that's sad, I always like your questions, they're always interesting.

  1. most of the time its' hereditary, but im not sure where it starts…but really, its hereditary from your mothers side, so if your dad is bald, it really doesnt matter, but look at your moms uncles and her dad and ask when they started going bald

  2. It's probably more common than you would think. I know a few people who had premature hair loss. I think they probably got picked on a bit in school. But it wasn't like a daily thing. Probably more stuff said behind their back than to their face.

  3. I'm sorry that you got made fun of. =/ My brother is now almost 26, and his hair is extremly thin on the top of his head. I know for sure he started around 18 but then it wasn't that bad. He started freaking out and using all of those hair products but I think that just made it worse. His friends teased him a lot as did I, but we were just trying to joke with him harmlessly. =[ It's hereditary on my dad's side of the family. My grampa was a baldy, my dad has thick hair, and now my brother. I'd say it's pretty rare, though. I haven't seen it anywhere else. I wish you luck and to not be teased anymore! :D
